Who we are
We are Todd & Janelle Taylor. We live on a 85 acre ranch in the wilderness of Oregon’s central coast mountain range with our son, Will, the last of our 3 children at home. Janelle’s Grandpa bought the original 350 acre homestead in 1940 and since then the land has supported a small grass based livestock operation. Janelle was 5 years old when her family returned to the now, 85 acre property where she grew up and poured herself in to her 4-H projects, raising sheep, cows, and horses. After getting married in 1991, and completing college in 1993 they soon moved back to the ranch to work the land and grow the livestock operation. In 2006 they purchased the property from her parents and began expanding their program to direct sales of grass-finished beef.
how We raise our beef
We believe in ethical meat. We raise our cattle on native meadow grass and legumes. In the spring and summer we rotate pastures. In the winter we feed local grass or legume hay. We do not feed fattening rations with grains like corn and soy. We don’t give added hormones or feed additives with antibiotic compounds. Because we don’t take shortcuts, our cattle take longer to mature and reach their ideal market weight. They don’t get institutionalized on large feedlots. They stay on the ranch. We like to say, “It gives our young cattle more time to eat, play and express their cow-ness.” Because our cattle are not institutionalized, we haven’t utilized a vaccine program since 1993.
